Our Process

Dream it.

Your project begins with a consultation meeting to define your space, needs and budget. A design set of drawings, with material and finish options is the next step. Then our expert team will put everything together and present you options for you to make the best decisions.

 CONSULTATION:

The initial meeting will be a pre-scheduled in home consultation with one of our project leaders.  The Project Leader will stay with you throughout the process as your main point of contact.  We want to hear all your ideas and plans for your renovation project.  Feel free to share pictures you have saved that will give us an idea of what you are attracted to. We like to start a Pinterest board that we can collaborate with if you haven’t started looking.  We will then take key measurements of the room for our initial set of drawings.  We will show you the many possibilities of cabinet styles, colors and finishes available until you discover the perfect look. .Your in-home consultation is free of charge.

Preliminary Design and Scope of Work:

After we have compiled all the information about your expectations for your renovation project, we will prepare a preliminary design optimizing your space to achieve the best possible layout. From this design, we will prepare a price quote; and schedule a meeting to review the design, scope of work and pricing.

Presentation Meeting:

CGG will share our design ideas with you and present a project that meets your expectations both functionally and aesthetically. You will be given a quote with prices stated separately for all scope items.  If you wish to move forward on your project, a retainer agreement will be executed and you will receive the drawings and presentation.  CGG will then move forward on finalizing your plans.

Purchasing and Specification Phase

Revisions:

Revisions (if any) in the scope of work or finishes will be made to the design based upon your decisions from the last meeting along with revised pricing. A final planning meeting will be scheduled to review the overall plans again and initiate the order process.

Sales Contract:

Upon review and acceptance of the design, the sales contract will be drawn up and signed to authorize placement of the order. You will receive fresh copies of the design now prior to the actual blueprints if needed.

Appliance Selections:

If you are purchasing appliances through CGG, specific selections must be made and the order placed to ensure that we have them ready and waiting before your kitchen installation. This is important in the event that an item is back ordered, or as is often the case with custom ventilation, there is sufficient time for the item to be built. Whether or not you are purchasing appliances though CGG, we must know the specific brands and model numbers of all appliances to ensure that the cabinetry we order is the proper size for the appliance specifications. Our electrician and plumber will also need to know in order to properly plan for them.

Counter Top Selection:

Your selection of counter tops should be made as quickly as possible so we can reserve your templating and installation dates with our fabricators. Whether you are choosing granite, solid surface, quartz or wood, making these arrangements early will help ensure that your kitchen will be completed without unnecessary delays.

Fitting, fixtures and hardware:

Your sink(s), faucet(s) and knobs and/or handles must be chosen, ordered and be present on the job site prior to the cabinetry installation. If you are purchasing these items yourself, you must make your selections early to ensure that they are in stock and on hand. In the case of sinks, your project leader  can let you know the size limitations for the cabinetry. Don’t forget such accessories as soap dispensers, sprayers, or water dispensers as additional holes must be drilled for them.

Final Drawings and Budget Review:

Another appointment will be scheduled to visit your home and take field measurements. If your kitchen is a remodel involving a change of wall structure, or brand new construction, measurements will be taken when framing is completed. Final drawings with full dimensions will be prepared and blueprints will be made.

Build it.

After all finishes have been chosen and materials ordered we will schedule a day for your renovation to begin. Our project manager will keep you informed with weekly reports and pictures of your project. We want to build trust with you and Communication is the key to a successful build.

Preparation for Installation:

Our project leader will work with you to schedule the installation of your project.  They will notify you when we expect delivery so you can plan to have your old kitchen/bath removed and the space prepared with as little delay between the tear-out and the installation as possible.  Cleaning out all your personal items from the space no later than the day before ensures no delays in the start of the project.

Demolition:

Before we start any demolition, we will protect your home’s floor with heavy duty coverings and seal the areas off to contain dust. We strive to keep a clean work space and follow all safety guidelines. Turning off water and electricity to insure we eliminate the chance for flooding and hazards.

All debris will be taken out of the structure everyday into a provided dumpster or trailer and regularly scheduled pick is a priority.

Framing:

After demolition is complete, our expert carpenters will frame new walls, additions and any changes noted on the design drawings agreed upon.

Rough Plumbing and Electrical:

After demo has taken place we will have our electricians and plumbers do their rough in (moving outlets, switches, adding boxes and running wire). This will be followed by any inspections needed by the city if permitted. Inspections will be scheduled by the project manager and or subcontractor.

Drywall installation and Paint:

After we get approval to cover up the rough plumbing and electrical we will install drywall and apply finish tape and drywall compound. Our professional team will make sure to contain all dust from other areas of the house and clean up daily.

This process takes minimum 3 days for compound to dry and be sanded multiple times until we achieve a finish we can all be proud of. New drywall is primed before paint.

CGG uses quality paint and never leaves you with runs or thin spots. Our high expectations for quality are part of every phase of work.

Tile and Flooring:

Now we are ready to start laying down tile for bathrooms and kitchens, if carpet is being used that will be one of the last steps in the renovation. If hardwood flooring is being installed we would install that now too. Depending on the size of the job will determine how long it will take. Expect minimum of three days on small jobs due to drying time between steps.

Delivery of Cabinets and Appliances:

The day before, or the day of the installation, we will deliver your new cabinets and appliances. Please have a designated area ready to receive them—usually the garage or other protected area.

Installation of Cabinets:

Installation will usually take from one to five days depending upon the size of your kitchen or bath.

Walk through inspection:

Soon after installation, your project leader will schedule an appointment with you to review the installation and make note of any work that needs completion.

Counter top and templating and installation:

After the cabinets are in place, the counter top fabricators will come to your house to measure and prepare templates. They will then cut the counter tops accordingly and install them about 5-10 working days later.

Plumbing and Electrical fixtures:

Next step is the installation of the plumbing fixtures and electrical additions to your space. The “trim out” will be inspected if needed.

Appliance installation:

Appliances will be installed (whether by us or your source) after the countertops are installed.

Love it!

We aren’t happy until you’re happy. During the renovation you will be involved with quality control inspections and decision making. We also do our own quality control along the way. After all approvals are complete the only thing you need to do is… Love your new space!

Approvals and Payments

Now that we have your project ready, we will walk with you to inspect every detail of the renovation. We have already previously walked on numerous inspections before you have to, insuring you won’t be disappointed in your new space. A list will be shared from our walk with pictures and before and after showing work has been completed. A Final inspection will take place and everyone will be happy. We don’t stop until the work is done and everyone agrees it looks amazing.

Payment Schedules:

A design fee is taken after initial designs and consultation is agreed upon. The fee varies with the size and complexity of the project.

Material and Construction payments:

When the contract is signed and a start date has been established - A 35% payment of the contract price is paid upon signing. This is for mobilization, materials ordered, labor scheduled and general conditions.

The length and urgency of the project will determine how we schedule the payments. Most kitchen and bath projects have 3 payments - 35% contract date, Mid point 35% and Completion 30%

Projects that are longer will be set up on a monthly draw for work completed.
